Why is this? 

It is important to develop the skills of a first-level supervisor, as these are essential to ensure the smooth running and positive leadership of a team, department or service.

A first-level supervisor plays a key role in communication between management and employees, and is responsible for mobilising the team, resolving conflicts, setting objectives and assessing performance.

Developing the skills of a first-level supervisor will ensure that the team is well led, that objectives are met and that employees are satisfied with their working environment.
